Shangazi House is built along the foothills of Mount Meru in northern Tanzania, and  has 10 acres of gardens and woodland with views south and east across Maasailand. It is a ten-minute drive away from the Arusha National Park, the home to deep calderas and Colobus monkeys.

The colonial-style main house and 4 outlying cottages provide not only great privacy and comfort, but also the luxury of the cooling breezes coming off the mountain.

There is a swimming pool next to the main house (along with a pool bar) and fireplaces in the lounge and dining room for the cool season (June through August).

Shangazi is located in Usa River, about half way between Kilimanjaro International Airport and Arusha, the gateway to the Serengeti.

Set in the shadow of Mount Meru, a part of the volcanic chain that makes up Africa’s famed Rift Valley, the lodge is conveniently close to the amenities of the city, yet still gives one the feeling of living in the traditional African “Bush.”
